Community Development and Empowerment
Along with conservation and plantation activities, KFDC also works for the welfare of the Forest communities in the divisions. The communities working with KFDC are Srilankan repatriates, their
descendants and the local forest tribes of the respective divisions. Currently KFDC has activities involving communities in the divisions of Gavi, Munnar, Thrissur and Manathavady.
The Cardamom and Coffee plantations in Gavi, Munnar, Thrissur and tea plantations in Mananthavady functions for the betterment of these communities. There are labour lines built in these divisions for their shelter. In addition to the plantation work, these community members act as tourist guides in our Eco-tourism zones.
