Conservation & Protection
KFDC has an area of about 10,000 ha of which 30% are natural forests which are conserved and protected for their ecological and environmental values. KFDC is maintaining these areas as such to achieve wildlife and biodiversity conservation goals. Both the natural forests and Plantations are protected and the Kerala Forest Act, Wildlife Protection Act 1972 as well as all other relevant forest, environment and other laws are strictly implemented in these areas. KFDC also performs the traditional role of conservation and protection like the Forest Department. Patrolling and protection ensures that forest and wildlife crimes are minimal in KFDC areas. When an offense is detected, action is taken as per the Kerala Forest Act and the Wildlife Protection Act and other relevant law and rule.
